What makes this scanner important is not that is ergonomically designed or that it has X, Y, Z and focus
adjustments like a standard single headed optical printer; it is that it will project any format from 4 perf 35mm up to
15 perf 65mm (Imax). Three sprocket assemblies are required to cover all of these formats - 4 perf 35mm, 4 perf
65mm and 5 perf 65mm. The "heart" portion of the cam is interchangeable between 4 & 5 perf pull down. One
35mm and one 65mm movement is also required. The aperture pin/blocks within the individual movements allow
quick changeover between formats within any movement. For an operator to make the change from any one format
to any other takes less than 10 minutes.
We have built this same "modularity" into animation stands, optical printers, film recorders and just about anything
else that uses motion picture film.
